Description
The protest has continued for over 300 days, demanding the return of traditional pasture lands in the Districts of Mylaththamadu and Mathavanai. Farmers gathered on this day to stress the length of their protest, and to demand a solution from the authorities. The protests relate to the appropriation of traditional pasture lands by Sinhalese people from other Districts, and that local Tamil farmers have been forcibly stopped from letting their livestock out to pasture in those lands.
